Toronto’s CN Tower was opened in 1976, at that time becoming the World’s Tallest Building, standing at over 550 metres tall (over 1800 feet). It held the record for 30 years until recently surpassed by Burj Dubai. The CN Tower attracts over two million visitors each year. As well as being a major tourist attraction, it is also used as a communications tower (similar to the smaller Eiffel Tower in Paris).

The London Eye is Europe’s biggest ferris wheel, opening in 1999 in time for the new Millennium. It consists of 32 capsules, each capable of holding up to 25 people. Some great views of London can be seen from the Eye.

The Eiffel Tower (la Tour Eiffel) is one of the world’s most instantly recognisable structures, indeed often used as a symbol of France. It is the tallest building in Paris, with building being completed in 1889, when it became the world’s tallest building (holding the title until 1930’s Chrysler Building in New York overtook it). It stands at 1,063 ft (325m). As well as being the most visited tourist attraction on Earth, the Eiffel tower has been used for radio transmissions since the beginning of the 20th century.
