The Pochard (Aythya ferina) is a diving duck, a little smaller than the more common Mallard. Male Pochards are recognisable by their dark red head and pale grey body. The female is dark brown, with a dark head and blotchy cheeks. Pochards are often seen with Tufted Ducks and the two species are known to interbreed. | ||
