Hi!

I actually already purchased this photo from you (Sunflower (EL-F-SF01)). I just wanted to let you know that I had it matted and framed and it turned out beautifully!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I absolutely love this photo. I get so many compliments on it. I had it done with a double mat…dark brown inner and blue outer. The blue mat is almost the exact blue of the sky! The frame is a dark brown that looks sort of like bamboo. Oh my gosh it is gorgeous! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the picture. It brings great joy to me everytime I look at it.

Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the article. To answer your question, no, we don’t use the conversion setting on the camera. Doesn’t seem necessary to be honest.

Also, we use a step-down ring screwed onto the lens and then the raynox attaches directly to that. The lens will retract fully when switched off with the raynox in place, without doing any harm to the camera.

Hi very interesting article and great shots. I have recently bought an FZ38 and would love to experiment with macro – i notice that there is a conversion setting on the camera – do you use this setting when you attach the Raynox? I would like to ask about attaching to the actual lens, if the camera switches off – or like me I attached a conversion telephoto lens and then switched over to view the shot and the lens retracted and hit the body of the camera causing the camera to freeze in the shut position which meant I had to manually pull the lens out to be able to unscrew the conversion lens eeekk?

Hi Philippa. Thanks for the compliment! Haven’t used the panasonic close-up lens. The raynox lenses are amazing, and you should be able to find them cheaper than £52 online, plus they can fit straight onto the lens with a step-down ring with out any negative effects (the raynox is lightweight). Fabulous macro shots ——I also have the FZ38 and wondered if you know of anyone who has used the Panasonic close up lens to compare with your own photos. I was thinking of getting one as I like taking macro shots. The cheapest I can find is £52 plus the adaptor ring. Any experience with one? Thanks.

Thanks for posting your elephant photos, I was in London for some of the elephant parade (visiting from NZ, so lucky to be there at the right time), I unfortunately was 41 short of finding them all and missed the herd viewing at Chelsea Hospital. So great to see your photos and relive the fun I had exploring London while hunting elephants.
