The Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) is one of the UK’s most common finches. Despite being common and often overlooked, the male Chaffinch in particular is one of our most colourful birds. If you have bird feeders in your garden, you’ll probably notice chaffinches eating from the ground under the feeder rather than on the feeder itself, they prefer eating this way.
