Red Squirrel Photos Gallery
The Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is the UK’s only native squirrel. Sadly, in recent years the red squirrel has suffered a huge decline throughout Great Britain, due to the arrival of the American Grey Squirrel. So much so that the red squirrel continues to be listed as an endangered species. The Red is smaller than the grey.
The squirrel below was taken on Brownsea Island, one of the Red’s few remaining strongholds.
